Dear Washington County Resident,

Our transportation system has strained to keep up with the rapid growth and economic development that has come into our region.

Congestion is more than just inconvenient. It affects the ability of our region to meet and address our current economic crisis. It hurts the ability of our workers and families to get to their jobs. It increases air pollution and environmental degradation. It hinders the ability of our businesses to deliver goods and receive critical supplies on a timely basis.

During the past legislative session I chaired the House Transportation Committee. We worked with citizens, community leaders, businessmen and women and legislators to pass landmark legislation that will provide for the first real influx of road and bridge improvements in nearly a decade.

I pledge that, as your next State Senator, I will continue to work to ensure that our agencies are responsive, our transportation dollars are well spent, and gridlock and congestion is addressed.
