HB 2192

Modifies duties of program director of Oregon Youth Conservation Corps (OYCC) and changes the name to the Community Stewardship Corps. OYCC supports two types of programs, the Summer Conservation Corps and the Community Service Corps. The focus of these programs is the training of disadvantaged and “at risk” youth with the purpose of teaching basic life skills. Exempts corps members from prevailing wage law.

SB 761

Eliminates testing requirement of students who are home schooled. Expands exception of compulsory school attendance law to include children taught at the direction of a parent or legal guardian. Eliminates requirement that ESD be notified of home schooling.1

SB 437

Revises laws governing higher education, with the primary intent to allow the Oregon University System (OUS) to achieve greater efficiencies in administration and operating costs. Additionally modifies the Office of Degree Authorization’s fee authorities and program approval processes, and requires a review of the Opportunity Grant student aid program.

SB 372

Directs the district boundary board to approve a petition to divide Morrow County School District No. 1 if specified requirements, including a petition requesting the change containing at least five percent of the electors or 500 electors of the district, whichever is less, are met. Directs that the two districts will be designated Morrow County School District No. 1, and Ione School District, and that each district will offer a K-12 education program.

SB 179

Defines school zone for purposes of Oregon Vehicle Code (starts at a sign indicating school zone speed limit, and ends at a sign indicating a different speed limit or end of school zone). Modifies definition of when “children are present” in school zone.
