HB 3548

Removes requirement that Oregon’s trade representative in China be based in Shanghai. Requires Oregon trade representative in China, with Economic and Community Development Department, to promote the development of trade and the use of Oregon’s environmental protection expertise to expand opportunities for Oregon businesses in China.

HB 2818

A city may request to be annexed into a special district in order to receive services from that district. Currently, if the district’s governing board approves the request, an election must be held to determine whether the annexation will take place. Voters within the city to be annexed also vote to decide whether to join the special district. However, the cost of holding such elections in larger special districts can be high.

HB 2372

Extends the sunset date on property tax exemptions for environmentally sensitive logging equipment and skyline and swing yarders from July 1, 2008 to July 1, 2012.

HB 2227

Allows water utilities serving fewer than 500 customers to elect to be subject to financial regulation by Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Permits PUC to allow water utility rates to include costs for specific capital improvements. Allows imposition of civil penalties of up to $500 for violation of PUC statute, rule or order. Specifies penalty monies are to be directed back to the affected customers.

HB 2140

Transfers the duty of reviewing artifacts to determine historic significance from the Secretary of State to the State Parks and Recreation Department.
