Human trafficking is a practice most think has faded out of existence, and therefore we rarely think about or discuss it. The reality is that it is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, and its time to start doing something about it. Children are often kidnapped; some are sold by their own families.

SB 839: Address Confidentiality for Victims of Human Trafficking

Senator Starr’s SB 839, relating to “address confidentiality,” has also seen favor in the Oregon Senate in the past week. Also included in a former newsletter, we explained the issue of human trafficking in the Northwest and particularly how it's affecting Oregon. The rate at which trafficking is growing is certainly alarming, and Oregon needs to become equipped in ways to protect victims and prosecute the criminals who support this practice.

Trio of bills introduced by Starr begin to combat human trafficking

Cornelius, OR — The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously passed out a bill Monday morning which will help provide safety, privacy and dignity to victims of human trafficking. Senate Bill 839 would allow victims of human trafficking to make all public records of their addresses confidential through the Address Confidentiality Program.
