The Portland Development Commission often receives confidential business information from private businesses in a variety of contexts, including loans, credit applications and rehabilitation projects. Proponents state that the prospect of release of such information to business rivals through public records requests currently impedes the Commission’s ability to negotiate with businesses on economic development projects. This bill exempted sensitive financial information submitted to an urban renewal agency from disclosure under the public records laws.
