Salem, OR – Bruce Starr (R-Hillsboro) has filed paperwork to run for his third term representing Senate District 15 at the Oregon Legislature. Starr has been a strong voice for the Washington district since 1999, and has developed a reputation as a common sense problem solver, consensus builder and champion of Oregon jobs.
“I hope I have earned the trust and support of voters,” said Starr. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of this community that my family calls home.”
Starr’s leadership has been essential to every investment made in Oregon transportation over the last ten years. It was his vision and tenacity that lead to the first significant transportation investment package to successfully be adopted in over a decade. Since then he has continued to shepherd crucial job creating and enabling legislation through every major session, paving the way to air, rail, water and road improvements that attract and maintain the presence of Oregon employers. Starr’s careful planning has also resulted in expansion of Highway 26, Highway 217 and I-5, creating some much needed relief from area traffic congestion.
“I believe the bi-partisan style of leadership that I have found to be so effective in the legislature is a reflection of the pragmatic, solutions oriented attitudes of our state,” said Starr. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Washington County.”
Starr lives in Hillsboro with his wife Rebecca, daughter Brooke and son Brett. Starr is a small business owner and graduate of Portland State University. Starr was first elected to the State Legislature as a Representative in 1999, where he served for two terms. He was elected to the State Senate in 2003. Senate District 15 is comprised of the cities of Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove and North Plains.
