Local legislators will host 2nd annual Economic Summit

Hillsboro, OR— State Senator Bruce Starr (R-Hillsboro) and State Representatives Shawn Lindsay (R-Hillsboro) and Katie Eyre Brewer (R-Hillsboro) are assembling business leaders from Washington County this Wednesday to tackle the question of local job creation and long term economic vitality for the region. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

SB 594 A- Rectifying Arduous Tax Reporting Requirements for Non-Profits

In March, a pastor from Washington County brought to Senator Starr’s attention a significant problem caused by an Oregon personal property tax reporting requirement. A meeting including the Senator and more than 50 local Pastors was quickly arranged to discuss their concerns and possible solutions.

HB 2001- The Statewide Transportation Package

After a lengthy series of hearings, work sessions, and negotiations to secure a consensus, Senator Starr was triumphant in presenting a transportation package that will stand as one of the session’s greatest accomplishments. With Starr’s leadership, this bill was made possible. It garnered near universal support of the business community and benefits Oregonians all around the state, both urban and rural, by giving 50% of the funds to counties and cities to invest in locally identified projects.

Largest jobs bill of the session passes with leadership from Starr

Salem, OR — For the fifth session in a row, Senator Bruce Starr (R-Hillsboro) has played a key role in crafting a transportation package that is projected to put thousands of Oregonians to work, relieve key transportation bottlenecks around the state and help ensure the long term economic viability of the state.  House Bill 2001 passed the Senate floor 24 to 6 on Friday.
